Canon Pixma MP495 review

BUILD AND DESIGN
As previously mentioned, the Pixma MP495 features a new design: a glossy black exterior with silver accents and a Canon logo on the front panel. The Pixma MP495 is also more compact then previous generations with storage dimensions of 18 x 13 x 6 inches (W x D x H) and a total weight just over 12 lbs.

The 24-bit external flatbed scanner is found under the top lid bearing a small Pixma logo in the middle. The Pixma MP495 can scan documents up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches and features Canon's Gutter Shadow Correction.

To the right of the scanner resides the 10-button control panel. Since the MP495 is a budget friendly model, there is no LCD panel or Easy Scroll Wheel (common to the Pixma lineup).

Pull open the output tray and lift up below the scanner to access the inside of the Pixma MP495 and install the ink cartridges. Canon provides two cartridges: the CL-211 dye-based color cartridge and the PG-210 pigment-based black ink cartridge. Canon also sells high capacity cartridges for the MP495: the CL-211 XL color cartridge and the PG-210 XL black cartridge.

There is no paper cassette but the 100-sheet rear tray is compatible with a variety of media including: Legal copy paper, U.S. #10 envelopes, 4x6 photo paper, 8.5 x 11 inch Fine Art paper, etc.

All connections are found on the back of the Pixma MP495. Canon does offer built-in wireless connectivity on this model.
