Along with the previously reviewed Canon Pixma MX870 and Canon Pixma MX350, the Canon Pixma MX340 Office All-in-One was officially announced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show hosted in Las Vegas.

The Pixma MX340 is the entry level model among recent Pixma office releases but it still offers many features found on popular previous generation Pixma MX330 and the higher end MX350.  But will it be the perfect fit for your office?  Read our full review of the Canon Pixma MX340 and find out now!

  • Print speeds: 8.4 ipm in black, 4.8 ipm in color
  • Print resolution: up to 4800 x 1200 dpi
  • Scan resolution: 1200 x 2400 optical dpi

BUILD AND DESIGN
The Pixma MX340 is similar in design to the Pixma MX330 released last year. From the curvy gray and black design, device quick keys, built-in automatic document feeder, and fold out output tray with the Canon logo, the Pixma MX340 shares many of the same features as previous Pixma Office printers.

The dimensions of the MX340 are approximately 18 x 16 x 8 inches and it weighs 19 pounds.

The built-in 30-sheet ADF folds out and can hold up to 100 sheets. The maximum document size is 8.5 x 14 inches for scanning, copying or faxing large jobs of all sizes at a resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi.

Canon offers a 48-bit flatbed scanner with an optical resolution up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and an interpolated resolution up to 19,200 x 19,200 dpi. The maximum document size for the flatbed is 8.5 x 11.7 inches and features the Auto Scan Mode.

The control panel runs the length of the MX340’s scanner lid and offers a one line dot matrix display with four navigation buttons, a numerical key pad, 12 quick keys and the power button.

The output tray folds out manually or automatically when a job is in progress. The tray needs to be out in order to access the inside of the machine. By lifting at the middle, users can load two Canon cartridges: the PG-210 black cartridges and CL-211 multi-color cartridges. The Pixma MX340 is also compatible with the high capacity PG-210 XL and the CL-211 Xl cartridges for offices with larger printing needs.

The Pixma MX340 does not offer a multi-card reader but it does feature a front side USB slot for scanning to a flash drive.

The Pixma MX340 offers a 100-sheet rear input tray that folds neatly into the device when not in use. The rear tray accommodates many paper sizes including, but not limited to: 4 x 6 photo, 8 x 10 photo, letter, legal and envelopes.

The connections are on the back of the printer and the Pixma MX340 is compatible with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed or Wi-Fi.
