BUILD AND DESIGN
Since I am a fan of crisp black design for office machines, when I saw the 3335dn for the first time, I was impressed. Compact for a multifunction laser with a large 7-inch touch screen, the 3335dn measures about 21 x 19 x 17 inches and weighs 50 pounds.

The adjustable 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is on the top of the 3335dn and supports several different media types weighing up to 43 pounds. With an ADF, users can copy, scan or fax large documents with little effort.

Underneath the ADF is the flatbed scanner that allows for scans as fast as 35 ppm in black or 20 ppm in color (although the 3335dn only prints in black, it does full color scanning). Dell offers scan to USB, email, file, folder, server capabilities in a variety of formats including PDF, JPEG, BMP and TIFF.

The highlight of the 3335dn, at least design-wise, is the adjustable 7-inch color touchscreen. A 17-button keypad with numerical keys for faxing, etc. and the front side USB port, which allows users to scan to or print from a flash drive, are also on the control panel.

The 150-sheet output bin is located in the middle of the machine, beneath the control panel. I like this setup because the 3335dn doesn’t need additional space to catch the finished product. What you see is what you get.

Press the button to the left of the output bin to open the front of the machine and access the single toner cartridge. Dell includes a bright blue handle and tiny blue arrows for easy installation.

Also on the front of the 3335dn is the 50-sheet multipurpose tray. Thanks to adjustable paper clasps, the multipurpose tray is great for printing envelopes, labels and other jobs and can support paper that weighs up to 43 pounds.

Below the multipurpose tray is the standard 250-sheet paper drawer, which is also compatible with a variety of media because of adjustable paper clasps. For users that print often, there is an additional 550 sheet drawer offered taking the maximum paper capacity for the 3335dn to 800 sheets.

All connection ports are located on the back of the 3335dn. Dell includes built-in Ethernet 10/100 Base T networking along with a standard Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. Users also have the option to purchase a wireless networking capability.

Users also have access to the paper path from the back of the 3335dn.
