In 2009, HP and Lexmark both announced web-connected touch based all-in-one printers within a few weeks of each other.  Lexmark’s line actually includes three web-connected printers – the Platinum, Prestige, and Interact - to HP’s one - the Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web.

Today, we have a full review of the Lexmark Prestige Pro805 All-in-One web-connected printer featuring print, scan, copy capabilities as well as a 4.3 inch myTouch control panel, built-in duplexing, 50-page ADF, print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, and Wi-Fi.

PRESTIGE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 3-in-1 device: print, scan, copy
  • Print speed: up to 33 ppm
  • Laser quality print speed: up to 10.2 ppm
  • Print resolution: up to 4800 x 1200 dpi
  • 4.3 inch myTouch LCD control panel
  • 50-page ADF
  • Built-in duplexing
  • Built-in card reader with PictBridge slot
  • 64 MB memory standard
  • Monthly duty cycle: up to 10,000 pages
  • Paper capacity: 150-sheet cassette
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Hi-Speed USB
  • Energy Star certified
  • Warranty: 5-yr limited warranty with registration

BUILD AND DESIGN
The latest line of inkjet all-in-ones from Lexmark are more stylish than previous models in my opinion.  The Prestige is done in a mixture of glossy and matte black with silver accents around the base.  Thanks to a fairly compact design, the dimensions of the Prestige are approximately 10 x 18 x 16 inches.  However, users should take into account the scanner lid lifts and the output tray extends out when choosing a home for their printer.

The Prestige offers a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for scanning and copying large documents with minimal effort.  The ADF is compatible with media up to legal size and is located on top of the Prestige.

Below the ADF, find the 48-bit flatbed scanner with optical scan resolution up to 1200 x 4800 dpi.  This device can scan documents or photos up to 8.5 x 14 inches and offers several scan-to features.

Grab the scanner base and lift to access the inside of the printer.  Here you’ll find the print head and dye-based ink cartridges.  The Lexmark Prestige uses four Lexmark 100 cartridges or four high yield 100XL cartridges (CMYK).

The large 4.3 inch touch screen LCD control panel is found on the front of the Prestige; even in off mode (as seen below) it gives off a sleek, professional look (and somewhat familiar if you’ve read our Dell P713w review).

To the right of the touch control panel is the built-in card reader with PictBridge slot.  The Prestige is compatible with SD, x-D, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MMC, PictBridge enabled digital cameras and USB flash drives.

The 150-sheet paper cassette and output tray are found underneath the control panel.  The Prestige can handle a variety of media from 3.5 x 5 inches to 8.5 x 17 inches thanks to adjustable paper clasps.

All connection ports are found on the back of the printer.  The Prestige can be set up over a wireless, Ethernet 10/100BaseTX, or Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection.   Users can also access the paper path through a removable panel found on the back of the printer.
