Brother announced the arrival of two new series of printers featuring their LED technology earlier this fall.  The idea behind using the LED technology was to make their typical "laser" products more affordable for home offices as well as small business.

Will Brother's LED printers stack up to the competition?  Find out now!

BUILD AND DESIGN
The Brother MFC-9320cw is smaller than almost any multifunction laser printer I’ve seen, as of this writing, with approximate dimensions of 17 x 19 x 16 inches and weighing in at just over 50 lbs.   However, where it bests other laser printers in size, it seems roughly the same in appearance thanks to a light gray outer casing with a navy blue control panel and output tray.  But overall, I really like the design of the MFC-9320cw; it gives off a professional and clean vibe.

The 35-page automatic document feeder resides on top of the scanner lid for large document scanning, copying or faxing.  Send documents as large as 8.5 x 14 inches or as small as 6 x 6 inches through the ADF.

The 48-bit flatbed scanner is found below the ADF and can scan documents up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches.  The MFC-9320cw has a maximum optical scan resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and a maximum interpolated scan resolution of 19200 x 19200 dpi.   There are plenty of scan-to options including: e-mail, computer file, USB flash drive, and network folder.

The control panel on the MFC-9320cw is lengthy with 19 quick keys, eight auto dial keys, a number key pad, a four directional arrow pad, and a backlit one line display.  Luckily, all of the quick keys are labeled and Brother includes a control panel overview in the user guide hard copy included in the original packaging.

The 100-sheet output tray is found directly below the control panel; pull up on the front of the output tray (marked with a small white arrow) to access the inside of the machine and four toner cartridges (BYMC, in order they are loaded).

The front side USB port can found to the left of the single sheet manual tray.   Users can print from their flash drives or scan to them but only in supported formats:  PDF, JPEG, TIFF, PRN, and PostScript 3.   Unfortunately, word docs are unsupported.

The Brother MFC-9320cw has a standard paper capacity of 250 sheets with a monthly duty cycle up to 25,000 sheets.  The recommended monthly print volume on Brother.com is 300 to 1,500 pages.  The main tray can handle several paper sizes including: letter, legal, executive, A4, A5, and B5.

Perhaps one of the most exciting features on the MFC-9320cw is the wireless connectivity option.  These days many offices big and small have wireless routers and I’ve often wondered why more manufacturers don’t offer Wi-Fi on business laser printers.  Of course, Brother also includes Ethernet and USB connection options; those ports are found on the back of the printer.
