HP LaserJet P2035n review

The HP LaserJet P2035n is one of HP's newest single function monochrome laser printers designed for individual professionals or small workgroups.  Combining a small footprint with fast print speeds, a large monthly duty cycle and built-in networking, the P2035n seems like a smart buy. 

But is it?  Read on and find out!

BUILD AND DESIGN
The HP LaserJet P2035n may be the smallest monochrome laser printer I’ve reviewed to date; it certainly appears that way with product dimensions of 14.4 x 14.5 x 10.1 inches and a product weight under 24 lbs.  

Besides being small, the LaserJet P2035n is also plain.  Not plain in a bad way; just very unnoticeable in a light gray color with little branding besides a small HP logo in the middle of the multipurpose tray door.  In fact, I hardly notice the P2035n sitting on my desk when it is not in use.

The output bin is found on top of the P2035n along with the control panel and the release button for access to the inside of the machine.  There is manual duplexing on this model; users will need to collect documents from the output bin to continue.

The control panel consists of two buttons – paper release and cancel – and six indicator lights that alert users to paper jams, low ink, low paper, etc.

The access button will release the front of the machine so the black toner cartridge can be installed or replaced.

On the front of the P2035n, the 50-sheet multipurpose tray can be accessed along with the 250-sheet paper drawer that resides below it.  The standard media types allowed ranges from sex different kinds of paper, envelopes, labels, cardstock, transparencies and heavy media.

The 16 MB memory can not be upgraded on this series so there is no memory card access. 

Since we’re reviewing the P2035n, there is an Ethernet 10/100 connection and a Hi-Speed 2.0 USB connection.  On the base model, the P2035, USB connection is the main option.
