Canon U.S.A. has added five new printers to their ever growing portfolio: two Pixma All-in-Ones, a SELPHY photo printer and two imageCLASS laser multifunction printers.
The Pixma AIO's are photo printers featuring Canon's FINE printhead technology, the improved Auto Photo Fix II and Wi-Fi.
The Pixma MP560, successor to the Pixma MP620, is supposedly the most compact Canon inkjet to feature both wireless capabilities as well as automatic duplexing and will be the first Pixma to print directly from a USB Flash drive. The MP560 also offers borderless 4x6 prints in 39 seconds, a 2.0 inch LCD and the ChromaLife100+ five-color ink tank system.
The Pixma MP490 is the more affordable of two new Pixma's. It features borderless 4x6 prints in 43 seconds, a 1.8 inch LCD, self-opening output tray, and the ChromaLife100+ four-color ink system.
The SELPHY CP790 compact photo printer is similar to the SELPHY CP770 with a few noticeable upgrades including: a new design with a Storage basket, a 3.0 LCD, Creative Options software and prints a 4x6 print in 43 seconds.
The imageCLASS release may be more interesting for owners of small businesses or professionals who work from home. The new additions to Canon's successful laser line are the lowest-priced color laser multifunction printers released by the company as of this writing.
The imageCLASS MF8350Cdn features print speeds up to 21 pages per minute (ppm) in color and black, duplexing, and fax capabilities.
The imageCLASS MF8050Cn is more affordable but users can expect slower print speeds, up to 12 ppm in black and 8 ppm in color.
Both models offer Canon's Auto Gradation Adjustment and meet Energy Star requirements.
The imageCLASS MF8050Cn and the MF8350Cdn are expected to be available in September 2009 for $499 and $699, respectively.
The consumer photo printers - the Pixma MP560, Pixma MP490 and the SELPHY CP790 - will be sold for $149.99, $99.99 and $179.99, respectively.
