Dell spices up printer line with Wasabi

Dell announced that their new mobile Wasabi printer - featuring Zink inkless technology - is available for purchase this morning.

The Dell Wasabi PZ310 is a handheld printer that uses special paper that reacts to heat to create 2 x 3-inch images anywhere. Dell partnered with Zink Imaging, the company behind the inkless technology used in the popular PoGo line from Polaroid.

The new device was first leaked in September 2008 by the tech blog Engadget after they found plans for the compact printer on the FCC website. Dell officially announced the Wasabi at a CES press conference in Vegas this past January.

The Wasabi weighs in at seven ounces and its dimensions are a mere 4.8" x 2.8" x .9". It features Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity and can be used with major mobiles such as RIM, LG and Motorola.

The portable printer is also PictBridge compatible so users can print directly from their digital cameras on the go.

The Dell Wasabi PZ310 Mobile printer is available in three colors - pink, blue and black - for a limited time price of $99 on Dell's website. Dell plans on increasing the price to $149 in the near future.
