Canon introduces two Pixma AIO printers

Canon released info today about the two new additions to its Office AIO line - the PIXMA MX860 and the PIXMA MX330.

The PIXMA MX860 and the MX330 All-In-One printers

The MX860 is a 4-in-1 inkjet machine (print, scan, copy and fax) featuring auto duplexing, Wi-Fi, resolution up to 9600 x2400 color dpi and a 2.5” TFT color screen. It can receive up to 250 incoming pages in memory and print a 4 x 6” photo in approx. 41 seconds.

The MX330 is also a 4-in-1 inkjet with a 1.8” TFT color screen, resolution up to 4800 x 2400 dpi and 4 x 6” prints in approx. 45 seconds.

The new machines offer color Super G3 fax capabilities, new security features, the ChromaLife100+ ink system and the Quick Start energy saving feature.

Canon also announced in the press release a new standard for evaluating print speeds – FDISS (Final Draft International Standards). According to Canon, the new standards measure print jobs using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word on letter sized paper. It will also measure output in images per minute instead of the typical pages per minute.

Print speeds for the new models are measured in ipm. The MX860 will deliver 8.4 ipm when printing in black text and 5.6 ipm for color. The MX330 will print 7.5 ipm in black and white and 4.5 ipm color.
