CES 2009: Memjet introduces new printhead

On Wednesday night I met with Memjet – a new company that is sure to make waves this year.   They are introducing a new inkjet printhead that features professional laser print quality, 70,000 nozzles and 60 pages per minute – in color.

This new printer component comes from Silverback Research out of Sydney, Australia.  They use a thermal silicon structure to create the 1600 dpi resolution energy efficient printhead.

Memjet plans on introducing this new printer component in early 2009 and is already in talks with several printer manufacturers.  They hope to have a model available for consumers in late 2009.

There is not a set price point at this time but the goal is to keep the machine at a price point that is competitive with the competition – so think somewhere between $300 and $500.

We also attended the Digital Experience! show at the Mirage convention center.  Tech vendors from all over the country attended with new and current products on display.

The show floor opens at 10 AM PST so stay tuned for more interesting printer news.
