Black Friday 2012: Best Printer Deals

The holiday season is often hailed as the "most wonderful time of the year" by whimsical folk (and crafty advertisers) but when it comes to shopping, it really is one of the best times of the year to get a great deal.

Black Friday is the pinnacle of the holiday shopping season and customers will go to outlandish lengths to lock down the unbelievably good deals big box stores throw their way. But every year when I peruse the Black Friday ads to share with our readers, I notice that some of these "amazing deals" are actually just cheap printers being sold for cheap.

So this year, the staff at PrinterComparison is doing things differently. Each week in November, we'll be sharing the top Black Friday deals of the week along with information about the product so you'll know what you're buying, instead of just looking at a price tag.

For the week of Black Friday, we are sharing deals from OfficeMax and Office Depot. Both retailers will offer deals all day Friday but deals begin at different times.

Office Depot retail stores open at 7 AM Friday but their doorbusters are available in limited quantities in store. Want to beat the rush? Take advantage of many of their Black Friday deals online today!

OfficeMax stores open at 6 AM Friday morning but deals are only valid til 12 PM (or while supplies last).

1. Canon PIXMA MG3120 - $39.99

The budget friendly Pixma MG3120 offers users print, scan and copy functionality as well as new features including: a front loading two cartridge ChromaLife 100 ink system, front loading paper trays as well as a mix of standard features such as print speeds up to 9.2 ipm and wireless connectivity. Suggested retail price is $79.99 for a savings of $40.

2. Brother MFC-J430w - $49.99

Brother MFC-J430w The 4-in-1 MFC-J430w falls in the middle of the series so it lacks some of the high-end features we saw on the MFC-J825dw and MFC-J625dw. What it does offer is print, scan, copy and fax functionality as well as print speeds up to 10 ppm in black and 8 ppm in color, a print resolution up to 6000 x 1200 dpi, 1.9-inch LCD, a 100-sheet paper tray, front loading ink cartridges and wireless connectivity. Suggested retail price is $99.99 for a savings of $50.

Epson Expression Home XP-400 - $69.99 The Epson Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One does what is expected of it: print, scan and copy at a decent clip and produce quality text documents and images. Other features include: 2.5-inch LCD, built-in memory card reader, Epson Connect, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and wireless connectivity. Suggested retail price is $99.99 for a savings of $30. It also features the fastest print speeds in the lineup at 16 ppm in black and 9 ppm in color with plenty of extras including a first side USB port, automatic duplexing and both wired and wireless connectivity. Suggested retail price is $169.99 for a savings of $70. The HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One offers families creative options that no other manufacturer can top as of this writing. Other features include: print speeds of up to 14 ppm in black and 10 ppm in color, a 4.33-inch touchscreen, 125-sheet input tray with 20-sheet dedicated photo tray and 25-sheet ADF. Suggested retail price is $199.99 for a savings of $50.
