Quick Take:
The Epson Expression Premium XP-800 is worth considering thanks to quick print speeds, outstanding photo quality and a blend of excellent features.

In July, Epson unveiled the new Epson Expression Premium XP-600, Expression Premium XP-800 and Expression Photo XP-850 at the Summer NDA Preview. And in September, the Premium XP-600 and XP-800 were introduced to the public with the Photo XP-850 following in October.

The Expression Premium XP-800 shares the flagship limelight with the Photo XP-850 of Epson's new Expression lineup for compact all-in-one printers targeted at consumers interested in quality printing, a bevy of features and mobile applications.

So read our full review to learn more about the Expression Premium XP-800 Small-in-One and find out how it stacks up to the Epson Artisan 837 All-in-One.

Build and Design

While the Expression Premium XP-800 may be the largest device in the Expression lineup as of this writing, it still measures in at a very compact 15 x 13 x 8-inches in non use and 17 x 24 x 8-inches when performing a job.

The style of the body is reminiscent of the Artisan lineup with a sleek black build centered on an adjustable 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen and user friendly touch panel that only highlights the necessary keys for each job.

You'll find the 30-page automatic document feeder fold into the scan lid offering double-sided scan, copy and fax capability, quite a find on a sub-$300 inkjet printer.  The maximum scan size is 8.5 x 14-inches with a maximum optical resolution of 4800 dpi.

There is a built-in memory card reader and front side USB port located to the left of the control panel offering users an easy standalone option for printing or scanning.

Lift up at the middle to access the stationary five Claria Premium ink cartridge system.  The Expression Premium XP-800 is compatible with the 273 standard capacity cartridges or the 273XL high capacity cartridges.

You'll find plenty of print options on the Expression Premium XP-800 between the CD/DVD print tray, dedicated 20-sheet photo tray, 100-sheet main paper tray and a rear tray for special media.

You'll find all connections on the back of the Expression Premium XP-800.  Users can connect their device via a USB 2.0, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.
