Lexmark's "Most Significant" Printer Launch Ever

Lexmark may have nixed their inkjet business in August, but less than two months later they have hit the printer world with a news sledgehammer dropping 42 new laser-class printers earlier this morning.

Not only is the sheer number of printers - 42 models ranging in price from $199 to $5499 - released impressive, but the advancements that some of the new devices will offer business customers are pretty high end including print speeds up to 70 ppm with a first page out in four seconds and a 10.2-inch touch screen.

Lexmark also announced two industry firsts: an extra-high capacity toner cartridge with page yields up to 45,000 pages and inline stapler finishing option available for products under $2000. The new Unison toner offers a lower melting point and reduced friction while also keeping user interventions low thanks to shake-free cartridges, no print fading and a perfect accurate toner counter. All the cartridges will now consist of two pieces; the toner is separate from imaging unit.

Customers will also be able to take advantage of a new wireless pod that works across the line of printers, converting a printer set up over a wired network immediately to a wireless network. lexmark promises the pod will retail for less than $50 and is easy enough for customers to install themselves without the help of a tech.

The 42 products range over five product groups and include both monochrome and color devices.

The color devices consist of three new MFPs - the CX310, CX410 and CX510 - and three new single function devices - the CS310, CS410 and CS510 - designed for small to mid-size workgroups. All the new models will offer an 800 MHz dual-core processor, the PANTONE color system and the lexmark Named Color Replacement, typically only found on the higher end color products.

Starting with the three new single function devices, the entry level CS310 offers print speeds up to 25 ppm while the CS410 and CS510 models offer print speeds up to 32 ppm with a first page out in 11 seconds.

The multifunction CX310/CX410/CX510 series will offer eight configurations with print, scan, copy and fax functionality and ranging from print speeds of 25 ppm up to 32 ppm. You'll also find three different display options: a 7-inch color touch screen (CX510), 4.3-inch color touch screen (CX410) and a 2.4-inch color display (CX310). Other features include: duplex scanning, a maximum paper capacity of 1,450 sheets and a maximum 3 GB of memory (standard paper and memory varies across the lineup).

The new monochrome MFPs fall in several different customer groups. The MX810 and MX710 series falls into the A4 monochrome laser market. The MX810 series offers 27 configurations for businesses to choose from including a multitude of finishing options, different paper capacities up to 3300 sheets, and print speeds ranging from 55 ppm to 70 ppm.

Lexmark MX810 series

Other features found in the MX810 series include a 10.2 touch screen, light beacons for advanced trouble shooting, hard disk standard, eco-friendly features, single pass duplex scanning, solutions ready out of the box and a 45,000 toner cartridge.

Unlike the MX810 series, the MX710 series are desktop units and only offer 5 different configurations as of this writing. The three MX711 configurations are similar to the 810 series with print speeds up to 70 ppm with a first page out in four seconds, the 10.2-inch color touch screen, a hard disk standard, a maximum 3GB of memory and a maximum paper capacity up to 3330 sheets.

Lexmark MX711 and 10.2-inch touch screen

The two MX710 configurations take things down a notch with print speeds up to 63 ppm with a first page out in 4.4 seconds, a 7-inch color touch screen and a maximum 2.5 GB of memory.

The next group of monochrome MFPs falls into the A3 monochrome laser market and consist of ten configurations: MX610dw, MX611de, MX611dhe, MX611dte, MX511dte, MX511dhe, MX511de, MX510de, MX410de and MX310dn.

The MX610dw, MX611de and MX611dhe offer print speeds up to 50 ppm with a first page out in seven seconds, a 7-inch color touch screen, a maximum paper capacity up to 2300 pages, a monthly duty cycle up to 15000 pages, a maximum 3 GB of memory and automatic duplexing.

The MX610dw offer print, scan and copy functionality while the other three offer print, scan, copy and fax functionality. You'll also find a standard hard disk on the flagship MX611dhe.

The MX510de, MX511de, MX511dte and MX511dhe offer print speeds up to 45 ppm, a 4.3-inch color touch screen, a maximum 2.5 GB of memory, a monthly duty cycle up to 12000 pages, a maximum paper capacity up to 2000 pages and automatic duplexing.
