Xerox ColorQube 8900 Review: Eco-Friendly Quality

Yes, the ColorQube 8900 offers a much more compact footprint than the ColorQube 9200 series, but it's still a beast. I couldn't get it into our light tent or on our scale. The ColorQube 8900 was heavy enough that it took two people to lift it out of the box and maneuver it on to the desk.

Having said that, it does actually fit on a desk and, despite its weight, would fit in most offices with no issue. You'll also need to consider that the 100-sheet multipurpose tray pulls out from the left side, so you'll want to have that side of the machine in open space.

Not only does the ColorQube 8900 print double-sided documents automatically, it also scans, copies and faxes double-sided thanks to the 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder. Scan and copy features include: Scan to USB, Scan to email, Scan to internet fax, mixed-sized originals, ID card copy, scan and copy to mailbox, collation, etc. Offices with finishing needs can select a 20-sheet convenience stapler (standard) and 650-sheet offset stacking (optional).

The control panel is large with a 7-inch color touchscreen and customizable icons, help menu videos and neat features (like Color by Words) where users can select simple word modifications to bring colors closer to the original image. You'll also find a few hard quick keys, an alphanumerical keypad and a front side USB port.

The ColorQube 8900 uses solid ink technology so customers will purchase solid ink sticks as opposed to toner cartridges. You save on waste and space with the environmentally friendly solid ink sticks which resemble a large crayon. The waste tray and roller are easily accessible from the front side of the machine.

The standard paper capacity for the ColorQube 8900 is 625 sheets, but businesses can purchase additional trays for a maximum paper capacity of 3,475 sheets.

All connections are found on the side of the device. The ColorQube 8900 comes with built-in Ethernet networking or customers can purchase an external wireless adapter.
