Epson revealed the Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One inkjet this summer with hope of attracting the Back-to-School market in August.
Well, it's now the end of August and we are sharing our full review of the Epson Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One featuring print, scan and copy capabilities as well as wireless connectivity and a variety of mobile printing options including Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Epson Connect.
So find out how this little guy performed during our battery of tests; it may just help you decide whether the Expression Home XP-400 is the perfect small-in-one for your home or dorm.
Build and Design
If you read our Epson Stylus NX430 review back in December, then you'll recognize the Expression Home XP-400 since the two devices share the same dimensions at 15 x 12 x 6-inches in storage (15 x 21 x 11-inches in use) and a similar design with black paneling, the smart touch adjustable touch panel, rear fed tray and 8.5 x 11-inch flatbed scanner.
The smart touch panel offers a 2.5-inch LCD and the keys light up as needed, depending on the job the user is trying to perform. The only traditional key is the power button. The built-in memory card reader is found to the left of the control panel and is compatible with SD cards and Memory Stick/Memory Stick Duo.
The Expression Home XP-400 features a 100-sheet rear fed tray that can handle a variety of media ranging in size from 4 x 6-inches to 8.5 x 44-inches. The output tray pulls out from the front of the Expression Home XP-400.
Lift at the center of the printer to access the four DURABrite Ultra pigment ink cartridges (CMYK). The Expression Home XP-400 comes with four standard capacity cartridges, but Epson offers high capacity replacement cartridges.
All the connections are found on the back of the Expression Home XP-400. Customers can choose between a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or Wireless 802.11 b/g/n connection.
