Canon announced the Pixma MG6220 and Pixma MG8220 last August as new additions to the Pixma MG all-in-one lineup. The announcement started with the MG8220 flagship all-in-one, but for just a slight step down in features, the Pixma MG6220 is being offered for $199.99. The Pixma MG6220 employs a couple of newer features, including Canon's Intelligent Touch System for the control panel and wireless Cloud Link printing.

This review will cover its specifications, print speeds, how long the standard ink cartridges last and what we found to be the main pros and cons of this new and improved version of last year's MG6120. We'll also include product photographs and its energy usage in watts.

BUILD AND DESIGN
The Canon PIXMA MG6220 has the exact same design as the previous generation MG Pixma in its class, the Pixma MG6120. Its surface is glossy so it's easy to smudge up with fingerprints and dust, but it does have some matte surfaces on the inside and on the back. The MG6220's exact measurements are 18.5 x 14.5 x 6.9 inches when folded up. It weighs approximately 20 pounds without the inks installed.

The Pixma MG6220 has a control panel on its top that's almost invisible when the printer is not on and running. The easy scroll wheel can still be seen, but the buttons fade away when the device is turned off. A 3-inch LCD is the centerpiece of the panel, and Canon's newer Intelligent Touch system has been added. The system allows users to use the wheel and other commands on the panel to navigate and choose options without actually pressing any buttons.

The 48-bit color flatbed scanner is located just under the lid. The scanner has several features, including wireless scanning, auto fix, gutter shadow correction and push scan. Its maximum resolution is 4800 x 4800 dpi. It can fit media that measures up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches in size.

The Pixma MG6220 also has a new feature that it shares with the past flagship Pixma AIOs, the feature to print labels onto a CD/DVD. The Pixma MG6220 came with the tray needed to print the labels. To insert it, open the output tray panel and bring down the disc loader panel. Place the disc in the center and push it in, and then follow the directions on the included software that comes with the Pixma MG6220.
