BUILD AND DESIGN
The MFC-9970cdw is a multifunction color laser printer with high end features, so its box is decent sized with approximate dimensions of 19 x 21 x 21-inches and weighing in less than 63 lbs. without consumables.
Brother includes a large 50-sheet automatic document feeder with duplexing capability so that users can easily copy, scan and fax single sided or double sided jobs hands free. Both the ADF and 48-bit flatbed scanner can accommodate documents or images up to legal size with a maximum optical scan resolution up to 1200 x 2400 dpi.
The 5-inch color touchscreen display is the center of the control panel with only a few external quick keys scattered around the screen. The touchscreen allows users to skim through the four major device menus as well as system settings, network settings, maintenance, etc.
The front side USB port is located directly below the control panel allowing for direct PDF and JPEG prints from or scans to your flash drive.
Grab the small handle found on the front of the output tray to open the inside of the machine and access the four cartridge toner drawer. Brother offers standard capacity and high capacity toner cartridge replacements. The drum unit will need to be replaced after 25,000 pages while the waste toner box and belt unit will need to be replaced after approximately 50,000 pages.
The 50-sheet multi-purpose tray pulls out from the front of the MFC-9970cdw and is compatible with a variety of media. The 250-sheet paper drawer is found beneath the multi-purpose tray. The MFC-9970cdw can be upgraded to maximum paper capacity of 800-sheets with the addition of the optional 500-sheet paper drawer.
Find the expandable memory storage on the left side of the device. The MFC-9970cdw has 256MB of memory standard and can be upgraded with 512MB of memory.
All connections are located on the back of the MFC-9970cdw along with access to the paper path. Users can choose from Hi-Speed USB 2.0, Wireless 802.11b/g or 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet.
