The HL-4000 series is targeted at the small office, home office (SOHO) market with affordable models chock full of business ready features including quick print speeds, a print resolution up to 2400 x 600 dpi, automatic duplexing and a front side USB port.
Today, we are sharing our full review of the HL-4570cdwt, the big brother to the HL-4570cdw (main difference is a second paper tray). Some of you may have watched our hands-on video first look of the HL-4570cdwt, but find out today how it performed during our tests!
BUILD AND DESIGN
The Brother HL-4570cdwt is essentially the HL-4570cdw in design, shipped with an additional 500-sheet paper tray that stacks underneath the printer box. The design is clean and what many would imagine a laser printer to look like; a box done in a mixture of gray and dark gray with a simple control panel. The overall dimensions are approximately 16 x 20 x 18 inches and it weighs in at about 60 lbs.
The control panel is found on the top of the HL-4570cdwt to the left of the 150-sheet output bin. It consists of a 2-line adjustable LCD, two navigational arrows and five quick keys.
Press the large centered button at the front of the output bin to access the inside of the machine and the toner drawer. The four toner cartridges (CMYK) slide in and out of the HL-4570cdwt for easy replacement. The HL-4570cdwt is sold with standard capacity cartridges with the expected yield of 1,500 pages for the color cartridges and 2,500 pages for the black cartridge. There's also the high capacity toner cartridges with the expected yield of 3,500 pages for the color cartridges and 6,000 pages for the black cartridge.
The HL-4570cdwt offers a front-side USB port found in the top left corner. The front panel also opens to reveal the 50-sheet multi-purpose tray that can print on thicker media as well as unusually shaped media-like envelopes.
Beneath the multi-purpose tray is the 250-sheet standard paper drawer that can hold a variety of media including Letter, Folio or B6 sized documents to name a few. Since we have the HL-4570cdwt in for review, we were also shipped an additional 500-sheet paper drawer that attached underneath the printer box for a total paper capacity of 800 sheets.
Find the memory access on the left side of the HL-4570cdwt behind a small removable panel. The HL-4570cdwt comes with 128MB memory standard, but can be upgraded up to 256MB of memory.
All connections can be found on the back of the HL-4570cdwt including the Ethernet and USB connectivity options, but one of the perks of the HL-4570cdwt is that it offers wireless connectivity standard.
